TWU work in a trauma informed way therefore we recognise the effects these types of training may have on staff that are making the actual interventions and managing risk in the setting. Some staff may be experiencing secondary trauma as a result of the work they do.

The issues we cover are sensitive and may be triggering for some, we know that stress and burn out lead to staff leaving the profession. This is why we teach staff awareness skills equipping staff to look after their own mental health and well being.

All techniques learnt can be used to reduce personal stress and be used with clients as they are effective for use with children and young people in the setting. We are teaching self help and self care skills that can be rolled out in the broader context of organisational well being.
